September 21, 2025 – February 8, 2026
Opening: Sunday, September 21, 2025, 11:00 a.m. with performance
With TEN BY ONE, PEAC Museum is presenting its first solo exhibition of Schirin Kretschmann (*1980 in Karlsruhe, lives in Berlin and Munich). The exhibition is one of the most extensive of the artist's career to date and features works created exclusively for this occasion.
Kretschmann’s work explores the specific characteristics of given situations and spaces. What defines a space? Which visible and invisible structures shape it? What actions are inscribed into it? For TEN BY ONE, the artist developed a new body of work based on the museum’s architecture, usage, and materiality. She reinterprets existing materials, movement patterns, and acoustic traces: through minimal interventions, performances, sound and video works, she shifts familiar perspectives and questions the conditions under which art is exhibited and perceived. The works continuously reconfigure themselves, remain open to spontaneous interactions, and generate a charged atmosphere that invites a multilayered experience.
Artistic Practice
Schirin Kretschmann engages with space as a medium of social structures and specific arrangements of the visible. Her artistic work is characterized by the recurring use of unusual materials such as leather grease, ice cream, loose pigments, plaster, packaging elements, and vehicles such as transport or rolling carts. Kretschmann sees these as carriers and storages of information that—depending on how they are processed and combined—can shape and transform our relationship to space, time, and their associated imaginations.
