CURATORIAL ASSISTANT (M/F/D) full-time, starting immediately
The PEAC Museum is an exhibition venue for modern and contemporary art. The starting point for our program is the Paul Ege Art Collection (PEAC) of the same name, which focuses on minimal art, radical painting, and conceptual approaches since the 1970s. The collection, which comprises around 1,100 works, is characterized by its focus on art that centers on the relationship between the work, the viewer, and the space. In regularly changing exhibitions, we explore the connections between established historical positions and works of young, international contemporary art. The exhibitions, the interdisciplinary supporting program, and our educational formats are free of charge and open to the public. The curatorial assistant is involved in all phases of exhibition development and works closely with other departments of the museum, external collaborators, and, in particular, artists, partner institutions, and galleries.
The scope of activities:
- Contributing to the development and implementation of exhibitions, characterized by analytical thinking and initiative
- Conducting bibliographic and documentary research with an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating other artistic disciplines and perspectives from the humanities
- Creating scientific and audience-oriented texts
- Participation in the creation of press and marketing materials
- Accompanying research and support in the organization of the supporting program and museum education offerings
- Support in maintaining the museum's social media channels, website, and creation of the newsletter
- Support in collection maintenance and the organization of loan transactions
- Exhibition tours, management of events, including evenings and weekends if necessary
Your profile:
- Completed degree in art or cultural studies or a related field
- Initial professional experience in exhibition design and implementation in a museum context or art institution
- Research and analytical skills
- Knowledge of international exhibition programs
- Initial experience in creating and monitoring project and budget plans
- Affinity for social media and digital communication
- Strong communication skills, open interaction with visitors, ability to work in a team
- Administrative skills, confident knowledge of common software
- Independence, commitment, reliability
- Very good German and English skills, other languages are an advantage
